Sydney’s Star Casino Confirms Case of Corona Virus

Sydney’s Star Casino has confirmed that a player who visited the property in the beginning of July has tested positive for Covid-19. The company says in a statement that the New South Wales (NSW) health authorities that a gambler who visited the casino tested positive for the disease.

 

This has sparked outrage amongst not only the casino but the people who visited the casino. A patron who went to the casino had returned positive results for the disease. The gambler visited the property between 7.30pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, 04 July 2020.

 

The company says it is working closely with the NSW Health in an attempt to respond to the new information. The company will also conduct further contact tracing of everyone who was in the property as well as staff members.

Sydney’s Star Casino Resumes Operations

Sydney’s Start casino reopened for operation in June. The casino was operating strictly on a restricted timetable. Amid fears of another lockdown, Star Entertainment shares listed on the ASX took a massive dive following the announcement.

 

The Star Sydney hosted a maximum of 5000 patrons on July 1. The people were at the property at one time within the casino property. After the casino became aware of the case, they continued to stay fully open.

 

It was also observed by patrons that there was no active cleaning that took place on the gaming floor of the casino. However, there were sections of the casino that are off to the public.

 

On Monday, the NSW announced that it has recorded 14 new cases of coronavirus. According to statistics from the health authorities, four of the people who tested positive were travellers who had returned to the country; two were residents who got infected in Victoria. The people have since been in self-isolation following their return.

 

The health authority says that the eight cases are part of the people who attended the Crossroads Hotel in Casula. While the three are contacts cases were at the hotel.

Another Property Shuts Down

Meanwhile, another hotel in the southwest of Sydney is to shut down following a patron who tested positive for Covid-19. NSW Health has confirmed that The Picton Hotel needs to be shut down for deep cleaning. Reports say that the person went to the hotel’s pub three different times. The person also went to play pokies at the gambling floor of the hotel.

 

According to the health department, the infectious patron went to the gaming room on 4, 9 and 10 July. The NSW has confirmed that it is taking precautionary measures to close off the locations.
