New Zealand Lifts Casino Restrictions

New Zealand Prime Minister lifts casino restrictions after the gambling sites record no new cases of COVID-19 for two weeks. Additionally, the casinos did not record any active cases since SkyCity opened its doors in New Zealand, Hamilton, Australia and Wellington. These gambling sites are amongst the first gambling facilities in the world to resume full operations. The facilities will no longer expected to practice any social distancing restrictions on its gaming floors.

 

The government announced moves to COVID-19 Alert Level 1 on the 8th of June which meant that physical distance requirements and mass gatherings restriction has been lifted. SkyCity Entertainment Group welcomed the announcement from the government.

Gaming tables and machines resume as usual. This is a statement from SkyCity. Moreover, the casino will no longer impose any social distancing restrictions. Under the new laws, gamblers will have access to the gaming ‘zones’ without any restrictions. In addition to this, players will be able to return to SkyCity gambling facilities. The company also plans to add promotions and events all over again.

 

In a statement, Graeme Stephens, chief executive of SkyCity Entertainment said they are pleased that New Zealand lifts casino restrictions. He welcomes the announcement by the government. Stephens says the company is ready to welcome players back into the facility. “It will be great for the public to enjoy the many areas of the facility and be busy again” said the executive.

SkyCity Commits to Safety Standards

Now that the facilities are back in action, SkyCity states that they will commit to maintaining robust safety and health standards. This will help the company manage the COVID-19 risk as well as anything associated with the pandemic. Further, SkyCity will continue to encourage players and customers to maintain the standards. The company will use the Government’s NZ COVID Tracer app to help track customer contact. SkyCity plans to focus on its domestic business for the foreseeable future.
