As of 29 June 2020, the Adelaide casino will be back in full swing. The facilities entertainment, gaming as well as hospitality facilities will be fully functioning.

Earlier in June, the New Zealand government also eased its restrictions which resulted in SkyCity gambling facilities in the country open for business. The company aims to follow the same guidelines when it re-opens Adelaide casinos. Therefore, SkyCity plans to start things off slow. The operating hours will be reduced and trading times will be based on customer demand.

SkyCity Specific Re-opening Adelaide Plans

As things slowing go back to normal, the South Australian government follows New Zealand’s three-stage approach to easing the COVID-19 restrictions and re-opening the economy. With this, SkyCity has put in place plans to get the ball rolling slowly. The casino operator has outlined a few rules that gambling facilities need to follow. These include:

  • First, at any given time, all facilities are subject to subject to maximum patronage capacity of one person per two square metres. This represents close to 2,200 people, staff included;
  • Secondly, Facilities need to adhere to strict physical distancing measures. This is inclusive of the configuring electronic gaming machines to allow appropriate physical distancing. Additionally, there should be limited players at every gaming table, and restaurants and bars should ensure appropriate spacing;
  • Casinos will only be accessible and limited to “”active”” members;
  • The majority of the food and beverage outlets will be in early June. This includes the re-opening of the Madame Hanoi and the Guardsman;
  • The facilities should enhance their hygiene protocols.
  • Lastly, There will be intense contact tracing practices. Casinos should have established primarily surveillance as well as identity scanning of guest.

Adelaide Casino Expansion Continues to Progress

Although the market seems gloom, SkyCity re-opens Adelaide Casino and the expansion continues to progress. The casino revealed that the master planning of the projects remains on-time and on-budget. SkyCity has plans to complete the project by October 2020.

With this expansion, SkyCity expects to reflect customer demand. Their main focus will be on local customers initially as many countries continue to enforce international border restrictions.
